Miss Lorna Lillian Adkins, age 88 of Stuart, Virginia, passed away at The Blue Ridge Therapy Connection on Saturday, March 14, 2015. She was born in Patrick County on July 11, 1926 to the late Will E. Adkins and Lillie Bowling Akins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Shelton, Nerine Schwichtenberg, and Annie Grogan and two brothers, Ray Adkins and Alvis D. Adkins. Miss Adkins was a member of Stuart Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, volunteered with the Joy Workers and the Extension Committee.
Miss Adkins is survived by several nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews, especially Darrin Matthew Grogan and Stephanie Ann Grogan, who both affectionately called her "Momom"; a sister-in-law, Louise Adkins of Low Gap, Virginia; and a brother-in-law Russell Grogan of Pinnacle, North Carolina

A funeral service for Miss Adkins will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 2:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Rev. Robert Belcher officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Stuart Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at her home on Staples Avenue.
