John Edward Swaney, 82, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 839 Waverly. He had been ill for 5 years.
Before he retired in 1945,Mr. Swaney had been employed in the fire department of Wilson Packing Company for 25 years. He was born in New Lebanon, Pa., and had lived in Belleville, Kansas, before moving to Kansas City, thirty-three years ago.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs Ella Swaney of the home; a son George E. Swaney of Hickman Mills, Mo.; two stepdaughters Mrs Emily Armstrong and Mrs Viola Dorsh, and a step son Ernest A. Armstrong.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at Warnick-Cuater-Eads chapel. Burial will be in Highland Park Cememtery.
