Charles Michael Norton , the son of Charles G. Norton and Pauline Priddy Norton , was born March 28 , 1948 in Ripley , Mississippi . His maternal grandparents were John K. Priddy and Myrtle J. Allen Priddy . Michael had one sister Patricia . The family moved to McMinnville , Tennessee when he was six years old . As a graduate of the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt School of Law he pursued his chosen profession of being a lawyer . After a time of serving as legal counsel for the State of Tennessee Department of Revenue and serving as a partner in several law firms , he along with Charles W. Bone , Sam J. McAllester III , and Stacey A. Garrett founded the law firm of Bone McAllester Norton . He served in the firm and was a nationally known authority on laws regarding the sale of art . Michael was a gourmet cook . He was confirmed as an Episcopalian and became a Bible scholar . He was deeply interested in Nashville history and as collector of more that 4,500 postcards donated a significant number of his postcards to the National Public Library . Michael also enjoyed creating collage artwork. Michael was devoted to his family : his parents and sister , his wife Susan , his children , and his grandchildren . Charles Michael Norton died in Nashville on February 21 , 2015 preceded in death by his mother Pauline Priddy Norton and survived by his wife Susan Tosh Norton ; father Charles G. Norton ; sister Patricia Norton Bryan ( Wesley ) ; sons Michael Benjamin Norton ( Jeannie ) and William Forrest Norton ; daughters Leslie Wallace Congdon (Emil ) and Claire Compton Wallace ; and 6 grandchildren .
