Jessie Merrill Ringenberg turned 95 one day before his passing on December 3, 2015. The son of Rev. Jonas and Ada Ringenberg he was born in Milford, NE. He graduated from Leo High School where he was class president for 3 years. He served in WWII on the destroyer USS Forrest. Prior to joining the US Navy he married Eloise Conley in 1942. They were married 70 years until her passing in 2012. Jessie and Eloise attended First Missionary Church for over 40 years, later joining Salem United Church of Christ where they were active members until their deaths. Jesse was an embodiment of his generations work ethic beginning at he age of 6 when he was picked up by a farm truck and worked for 50 cents a day. He ended his work career as electrician and power house worker for over 40 years at GE, never having taken a sick day. He is survived by his daughter Marlene Schultz of Fort Wayne; son, Kevin (Kelli) Ringenberg of Carmel, IN; 5 grandchildren, Matt (Angie) Schultz of Indianapolis, IN; Melissa Schultz of Pennsylvania; Allison VanZandt of Woodburn, IN; Mitchell and Jacob Ringenberg of Bloomington, IN; and 4 great-grandsons. Also surviving are his sisters, Lois Laymon and Faythe Rhors of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his brother Morris Ringenberg of Grabill, IN. Service is 2:00 pm, December 11, 2015 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd with calling 2hrs prior beginning at 12 noon. Burial in Leo Memorial Cemetery. In honor of his wife and in lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Salem United Church of Christ.
