LODI, May 4-Abraham Dause, 51, of 1327 W. Lodi, died in his home yesterday after apparently strangling on a piece of steak. His wife, Violet, told police he returned from a fishing trip in the afternoon, and she prepared a steak for him. Mrs. Dause said she went to a nearby apartment as her husband sat at the kitchen table, and when she returned in five minutes he was lying on the floor unconscious.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, Dause moved to South Dakota with his family when 10 years old, coming to Lodi in 1932. He and his wife operated the Mark Twain Hotel in Stockton, and later he operated the Lodi Auto Wreckers for 10 years. He recently was working with Tokay Glass Co.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Starlen Lipelt of Berkeley; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Dause of Lodi; his brothers, Fred of Stockton, Ernest and Dallas of Lodi, and George of Galt; his sisters, Mrs. Adeline Korus of Lodi and Mrs. Goldie Reiswig of Woodbridge, and two grandchildren.
He was a member of the Glaziers Union of Sacramento.
