Mildred Kirkdorffer was born Jan. 21, 1915 to Martin and Nettie Sheaffer of Adel. She graduated from Adel High School in 1932. She married Leonard Nance Oct. 10, 1932. They farmed near Adel until his death in 1976. She was a member of the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren and the First United Methodist Church of Bradenton. She married Merle Kirkdorffer of Eldora in 1980, and they resided in Bradenton, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, husband, Merle, and a grandson.
She is survived by two brothers, James Sheaffer of Chadron, Neb., and Kenneth Sheaffer of Tonganoxie, Kan.; two sons, Larry Nance of Des Moines and Norman Nance of Des Moines; two daughters, Janice O'Dell of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Carolyn Porter of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
