James M. Adams, 83, of 307 Madison Street, a highly esteemed Louisa resident, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital following a sudden illness. Mr. Adams was born October 19, 1889, at Adams, a son of the late Isaac and Nancy Trent Adams, pioneer settlers of that section. He was a retired merchant and a retired director of the First National Bank of Louisa, having retired last week. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Apperson Masonic Lodge 195, F & AM, Louisa. His first wife, Mrs. Cynthia Ball Adams, died in 1936. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Webb officiating. Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dora Johns Adams; a daughter, Mrs. Nora Mae Dent of Cardington, OH, a son, Roy Adams of Louisa; a sister, Mrs. Effie McKinster of Columbus; two brothers, Stanley Adams of Springfield, OH and Morton Adams of Catlettsburg; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The body was taken to the church one hour before the services from Heston Funeral Home. Big Sandy News, January 18, 1973
