John Woodland Andrews, 78, died January 12, 1939 at his home seventeen miles southwest of Stillwater. Funeral services will be held at Clarkson church Saturday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. V.A. Doty officiating. Burial will be in Clarkson cemetery in charge of Strode Funeral home.

J.W. Andrews was born at Cedar Rapids, Ia., October 9, 1860, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Andrews. He was married to Lucy Russell at the home of her parents in Clarkson township March 7, 1892. He had come to Payne county in 1889 and homesteaded the farm where Vassar schoolhouse now stands and later moved two miles west to the farm where his death occurred.

Mrs. Andrews preceded her husband in death in 1913. One daughter, Mrs. Elva Silvers, of Mulhall, survives. There are three grandchildren. Surviving also are a brother, F.E. Andrews, and a sister, Mrs. Lola Taylor, both of Mulhall.

J.W. Andrews was a farmer and blacksmith. He was a member of the Christian church.
