Walter S. Schlick, 84, 1016 S. Sycamore St., died Friday at a local hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Robert Foster officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Schlick was born May 26, 1897, at St. Anne, the son of John and Catherine Kolbet Schlick. He received his education at St. Anne. On Feb. 10, 1920, he married Cecila Bohnart at Lawrence. After their marriage, they farmed near Wood River, until moving to Grand Island in 1942. He was a carpenter at John Claussen Sons Construction Co. until his retirement in 1958. His first wife died in 1967, and he then married Fern Stevens on June 8, 1977. Mr. Schlick was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 378, the Knights of Columbus, Carpenters' Union, Local No. 1187 and the Grand Island Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his widow, Fern; a son, Ted of Chadron; four daughters, Mrs. Weldon (Leona) Follwell of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Bill (Alice) Snider of Caldwell, Idaho, and Mrs. Art (Marie) Lewis of Manhattan, Kan.; a sister, Norma Schlick of Concordia, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Glenn, of Honolulu, Hawaii; and a step-daughter, Mrs. James (Coloriss) Lackey of Manhattan, Kan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecila, a daughter and three sisters.
