William S. Agard was born to Samuel and Mary Agard in Naples May 12, 1870, and the family moved to Wayland very shortly thereafter. His father died when he was but three years old, and he grew up with his mother and stepfather, Richard Turner, in Wayland. In 1893, Mr. Agard married Miss Carrie Campbell of Loon Lake. They farmed for many years on Potter Hill in Cohocton. After Mrs. Agard died in 1928, Mr. Agard moved to Silver Springs to live with relatives. He died in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester April 9, 1933. He was nearly 63 years old. He was survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Wheeler and Mrs. Henry Newton of Perry; one son, Wilbur Agard, and two half-brothers, Morgan Turner of Perry and James Turner of Syracuse. The funeral was held in Cohocton at the home of Mr. Agard's brother-in-law, Mr. George Herbert, with burial in Lakeside Cemetery at Loon Lake, Rev. H. A. Spencer officiating.
