He was united in marriage to Patsy Zane Kirpatrick on March 10, 1955, Preble County, Ohio. To this union, three known children were born: Silently-born Male Shiverdecker, Gregory Wayne and Gloria Zane Shiverdecker.
He was a former employee of Camden Steel Co. and later had owned and operated a hardware store and gun shop in Camden. Finally, he was general manager of Copy Cat Printing in Springboro. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church of Camden, a member and past master of Camden Masonic Lodge #159 F&AM, a member of Camden Chapter #443 OES, Eaton Chapter #22 RAM, Preble Council #135 RSM, Knights Templer Commandery #71 of Middletown, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, The Antioch Shrine of Dayton and the Preble 32nd Club.
He died at the age 56, from cancer, at the Grandview Hospital, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. He was interned on September 7, 1988.
