SMITHVILLE - Willodean Barrett, 72, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. She was born April, 22, 1928, in Marion County, Ala. She had lived in Monroe County for many years and lived in Smithville for the past seven years. She was maried to Travis Kenneth Barrett in 1945; he died in 1976. She was a retired seamstress, having worked with Greenwood Slacks. She was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Group and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She enjoyed collecting glass and reading.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with the Rev. Lloyd Sweatt officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Michael Barrett and his wife, Donna, of Amory; three daughters, Linda Thompson and her husband, David, Delores Brasham and her husband, Gary, and Teresa White and her husband, Danny, all of Amory.; two sisters, Irah clark of Sulligent, Ala., and Lucy Hood and her husband, Joe, of Amory; six gandchildren, Brad McCormick, Tammy Dyer, Michael Barrett, Chris Basham, Kristi Coxy and Brandi Montgomery; eight great-granchildren.

She was preced in death by her parents, John Henry Burks and Clearsie Howell Burks; five brothers, Robert, James, Carl, Roland and Rayford Burks; four sisters, Mae Robinson, Gladys Brimingham, Rosa Burdine and Annie Ray Burks.

Pallbearers will be Danny Carl Burks, Alan Burks, Phil Burks, Ray Burks, Dallas Burks and R.H. Burdine.

Homoray pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday at Meadowood Church.
