MARTINSVILLE, Mo. - Ida Naomi (Abels) Barth, 80, Martinsville, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at her home due to hypoxia caused by respiratory failure (diagnosed 2 weeks prior to her death) and Congestive heart failure diagnosed 6 weeks prior to her death. Her daughter Carolyn was the informant on the death certificate.

Mrs. Barth was a nursing assistant for 15 years at Methodist Medical Center (now Heartland Regional Medical Center West) before retiring in 1983.

Born April 6, 1921, in Savannah, Missouri to Thomas George and Rada Leeson Abels. She had five siblings: Virginia May Abels Mitchell Miller Keiling (1920-1973), Florida Lee Abels Holstrom (1922-2006), Mary Edih Abels (1924-2010), Rachel Elizabeth Abels Rice (1927-1999), and William "Billy" Abels.

She married Park Barth on September 27, 1947 at the age of 26. To this happy union, they had two children, Monte Park Barth (1948-1992) and Carolyn Barth. She lived most of her life in St. Joseph and the last 16 months in Martinsville.

Mrs. Barth was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barth was preceded in death by her husband, Park Barth; a son, Monte P. Barth; her parents, Thomas G. and Rada M. Abels; and two sisters, Rachel Rice and Virginia Keeley.

She is buried to her beloved Park at the Savannah Cemetery in Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri.
