❤️ Viola was the 9th of the 14 children of John Henry Ripley III and Ann Armfield.
Although she was born in Oregon, her family traveled north by wagon when she was very young, and they settled first in the Okanagan of WA, and then in Oliver B.C. Canada. As a young lady she came south to find work, where she met the young widower Earl Whiteley. They married in Feb. of 1924. Earl had one boy, and with Viola they had 4 more boys. Viola kept busy gardening, making butter, cooking, baking, canning, and sewing, as well as managing the many challenges of raising 5 boys and living on a farm. She had a great sense of humor, and always a twinkle in her eye. She had a close relationship to many of her brothers and sisters, most of whom were still in Canada.
