.....Samuel Packwood was the son of Samuel Packwood and Penelope Stout. He married Elizabeth Turner about 1769. Elizabeth was the daughter of Shadrack Turner and Ann Pollard of Pittsylvania County, Virginia (became Henry County in 1776/7).

.....Samuel was a farmer, and owned a farm in Patrick County, and also owned land in Henry County.

.....Samuel's will was written 23 July 1824, in Patrick County, Virginia (Will Book 1, p. 141).

.....Samuel served in the Henry County Militia during the Revolutionary War, having fought in the Battle of Guilford Couthouse under Captain John Cunningham and Colonel Abram Penn. He served as a Gentleman Justice of the Peace in Patrick County, Virginia.

Samuel is a proven ancestor of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution, headquartered in Washington, DC):

Samuel's residence was originally in Henry County, Virginia, but when Patrick County was formed, his farm fell within the boundary of the newly formed county of Patrick. He and his wife Elizabeth Turner Packwood died in Patrick County, Virgina.

Samuel's descendants migrated west, except his daughter Elizabeth Prillaman, who lived out her life in southwestern Virginia,......one of Samuel's most prominent descendants was Senator Robert Packwood of Oregon.
