BARNABY, Adeline (Sabini)

Adeline (Sabini) Barnaby, 86, of Wethersfield, died peacefully on Sunday, (April 27, 2003) at Saint Francis Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (DeBarbieri) Sabini. The youngest of nine children, she was predeceased by all of her siblings. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 8, 1916 she moved to South Glastonbury at the age of 18 months, where she was raised by her grandparents Maria and Angelo Marchi and her beloved Aunt Anna (Marchi) Cavanna. Della was a graduate of the Glastonbury High School Class of 1933 where she was ranked seventh in her class and was voted ''wittiest''. Upon graduation she worked for the State Liquor Commission for several years until the birth of her daughter Judith. From 1952 until her retirement in 1980 she was employed by Cigna as a policy registrar. A resident of Wethersfield since 1955, she was a member of Corpus Christi Church with religion playing a very important role in her life. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Judith (Barnaby) and Robert DiCicco; and her beloved and cherished grandchildren Julie and Michael DiCicco, all of Wethersfield. She also leaves a special cousin and her husband, Joyce (Cavanna) and Richard Ferrari and their children Michael and Sharon Ferrari and Catherine and Jack Webb, all of Glastonbury as well as nieces and a nephew from New York and New Jersey. She found great pleasure in making the occasional journey to New York to visit them.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
