~TRACTOR KILLS TEACHER AT MOUNT PLEASANT

MOUNT PLEASANT, UT - A Salina school teacher was crushed to death Wednesday at about 4:00 p.m. when a tractor he was driving overturned while working on a dry farm four miles northwest of here.

The victim, Clayton W. SORENSEN, 43, was operating a tractor at the dry farm and attempted to maneuver the machine into a gully when it overturned and pinned him to the ground.

C. W. SORENSEN, 88, Mount Pleasant, father of the victim, said Jimmy Martin, Salina, had been operating the tractor prior to the mishap.

Aided by J. F. Pritchett, Mount Pleasant, Mr. Martin took the victim to a local hospital.

Mr. SORENSEN was born in Mount Pleasant, October 10, 1908, a son of C. W. and Eva Madsen SORENSEN. He was graduated from North Sanpete High School and Brigham Young University, Provo.

He taught school one year at Ucon, Idaho, High School, then came to Salina, where he taught the past 20 years.

He was active in civic and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints affairs.

He married Wilma HAFEN, Mount Pleasant, June 01, 1927, in the Manti LDS Temple.

Surviving are his widow; four daughters; Charleen Dalton, Circleville, Piute County; LaJuana, Billie Luella and Jerri Lynn SORENSEN, all of Salina; one grandchild; his father and a sister, Mrs. J. S. JENSEN, Mount Pleasant.
