MT. PLEASANT, UT - Chreston William Sorensen, 96, Mt. Pleasants oldest citizen, died Friday at 7:30 a.m. at his home, 184 W. 3rd South. He suffered bruises and other Injuries in a fall Sunday morning in his home. He was born Nov. 1, 1863, at Mt. Pleasant to Chreston and Chritena Jensen Sorensen. After studying at Brigham Young Academy, he taught school in Mt. Pleasant 15 years. Later he was a banker and a farmer. Mr. Sorensen was a former state legislator, city councilman, recorder and assessor. He had served on the North Sanpete School Board and as president of the Mt Pleasant Library Board. He had been president of the Pleasant Creek Irrigation Co. and secretary-treasurer of the Cedar Creek Irrigation Co.

Mr. Sorensen married Dena A. Hansen March 1, 1885, in the Manti Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She died Sept 25, 1888. He married Eva Madsen June 24, 1891, in the Manti Temple. He served an LDS mission in Denmark from 1892 and 1894 and a California mission in 1917 and 1918. He had served as counselor and president of the high priest quorum in the North Sanpete LDS Stake.

Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Ruby S. Jensen, Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clayton Sorensen, Salina; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, George C. Sorensen, Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Mrs. Elmena Jensen and Mrs. Malinda Nielson, both Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Geneva Oldroyd, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Fena Monsen, Bell, Calif.
