Mary Linda York Butts, 70, of Vidor died peacefully on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at her home. She was born on January 24, 1945 in Beaumont, Texas to Herbert and Hazel York. Linda wore many "hats" though out her years that included participating in the Azalea Garden Club, singing and traveling with the Voices of Victory Gospel Group, teaching, nursing, and nutritional dietitian. She especially loved cooking for her family, fishing and spending time at their family beach cabin. Linda attended SFA University and was a member of Vidor Assembly of God and was a strong believer in God. She was greatly respected by her family and friends and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, NaNa and friend. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 50 years, Thomas "Tommy" E. Butts, Sr. of Vidor, 2 daughters, Melinda Hudson and husband Robin of Vidor, and their children, Britta Hudson Gonzales and husband Chase of Buna, and Brennan Hudson of Vidor, Brenda Mobley and Mark Mongiello and their children Brittany Cole and husband Byron, Brook Knapp and husband Aron, and Christopher Mobley and wife Michaela all of Vidor. She is also survived by a son, Thomas "Jay" E. Butts, Jr. and wife Chelyn of Vidor and their children Hunter Butts and fiance' Shelby Barnes, and Lance and Logan Butts, 4 great grandchildren, Trenton Hudson, Grayson Hudson, Hynslee Gonzales and Hayden Cole, brother, Herbert York, Jr., and wife Clair of Buna, and sister, Patricia Lanier and husband James of Huntsville. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Hazel York, and son, James Britton. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Services will be on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at River of Life Church in Vidor with interment at 1:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery in Silsbee, Texas.
