Born to Reuben F. Alexander (1892–1960) & his first wife, Mattie Alexander Alexander (1894–1930).

J.C.'s headstone is incorrect. He was born in 1920, not 1918. He was not yet born during the 1920 census, which was enumerated in January 1920.

J.C.ALEXANDER, 23 KILLED IN ACTION
J.C. Alexander, 23, son of Mr. R.F. Alexander of Columbia, was killed in action January 30 in Italy, according to a telegram received by Mr. Alexander Monday.

J.C. Alexander entered the service about a year ago and went overseas in September.
He was living at New Augusta when he was inducted. His wife lives in New Augusta at present. Plans for a memorial service to be held at New Augusta will be announced later.
