Grace Campbell, 99, of South Charleston passed away Friday, March 5, 2010. She was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Knott County, Ky., to the late Henry and Carrie Combs. Grace was the last of nine children. She was a schoolteacher in Knott County, Ky., during the late 1920s and early 1930s. Grace and her sister, Gladys Arthur, worked in the Naval Ordinance Plant during World War II. She married Tyrus Campbell of Perry County, Ky., on Sept. 26, 1939, and eventually moved to West Virginia in the 1940s, where they lived the rest of their lives in Spring Hill. Surviving: son, Harold Campbell; and his fiancee, Lynn Storrick of Hurricane; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Gene Raynes of South Charleston; grandchildren, Derek Raynes, and Jared Raynes; niece, Velva Morrison and her husband John; sister-in-law, Nancy Campbell.
