Her birthplace was the Ebenezer Community in Pittsburg. For years she worked as a seamstress at Mike Benet Formals, then sold used cars at her C & F Used Car Lot, after that she raised chickens for Pilgrim’s and enjoyed the farm life with cattle. The First Baptist Church of Pittsburg was her home church, and she often attended services at the Leesburg Baptist Church when her health condition changed. She was also a former member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Quilting was one of her favorite things along with making crochet doilies For several years she played her guitar with the Silver Threads and traveled to nursing homes to perform.

Her love of flowers and potted plants kept her window sill full.

She was preceded in death by husbands Ethan Brewer, D.H. Barton, A.G. Lacy, and Floyd Cook; her parents W.H. and Mattie Young; and several siblings.
