Mildred Louise (Payne) Rodgers of Rockwall, TX, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 13, 2015 at 99 years of age. She was born on May 30, 1915 to Sally & James David Payne in Arlington, TX. Mildred was one of ten children, only one of which survives her, Francis Shewmake of Dallas. She married Monnie James Rodgers November 25, 1933 and they were married 65 years until his passing in 1999. They had four daughters and enjoyed traveling to Arkansas and Colorado for vacations. Mildred enjoyed family get-togethers and cooking. She was the family “Caretaker,” a position that she loved. Mildred was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monnie “Pud” Rodgers, daughters, Gaye Garrett and Connie Eubank and granddaughter, Terri Cornelius. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Barbara Edge & husband Joe of Wylie, TX, her daughter, Peggy Jones of Rockwall, TX, and her grandchildren, Russell Edge & wife Donna of Wylie, TX, Richard Edge & wife Goya

of Farmersville, TX, Bryan Garrett & wife Shannon of Rockwall, Andrea Lindigrin of Rockwall, TX, Graham Garrett of Rockwall, TX, Ashley Jones & wife Leslie of Rockwall, TX, Tim Cornelius & wife Christine of Red Oak, TX, numerous great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Monday, February 16, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow in Rockwall Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday morning, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00am.
