John Conner Laid at Rest at Stratton Thursday.

John Conner, son of John Thomas Conner and Sarah Conner, was born if Fairbury, Nebraska on November 22, 1883 and passed away August 9, 1974 in Long Beach, California at the age of 90 years, eight months and 18 days after a long convalescent period from a hip fracture.

He moved to Stratton, Nebraska with his parents, six brothers and one sister about 1906 and married Edith Gummere of Stratton, Nebraska on June 19, 1909. To this union five children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, July 29, 1941 and his son, Fred, March 30, 1942.

John and Edith Conner made their first home near McD onald, Kansas. In 1914 they homesteaded in Wray, Colorado and in 1917 returned to McDonald, Kansas where he farmed until 1943 when he moved to Long Beach, California. In Long Beach he worked for Darnell Corporation for 21 years. He was 81 years old when he was forced to retire because of poor eyesight.

He is survived by four children, Mrs. Edna Mae Murray, Bird City, Kansas; Everett Conner, Long Beach, California; Hale O. Conner, Broomfield, Colorado; Mrs. Hazel B. Hartman, Mc1/6/13 onald, Kansas; one bother, Paul Conner of Los Angeles, California; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Jones Funeral Chapel in Stratton on Thursday with the Rev. Eldo Kirkus officiating. Mrs. James Earnest was the organist and Mrs. Bob Cobb, the soloist. Casket bearers were Clark Hanson, Leon Carse. Fred Hanson, Burdette Golding, Ralph Gummere and Harold Conner. Interment was in the Stratton Cemetery.
