OBITUARY OF CLIFTON T. BURNS

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Clifton T. BURNS, 54, a former resident of Mount Pleasant, died Monday in a Los Angeles hospital following a long illness of cancer.

Mr. BURNS was born here November 28, 1879, a son of James and Matilda A. BURNS. His father was killed in 1904 by outlaws while serving as sheriff of Sanpete County, and a brother, J. Milton BURNS, also a former Sanpete County sheriff, was killed by a negro at Castlegate in 1925.

Mr. BURNS had lived in California the past 30 years, where he was employed as bookkeeper for various business concerns.

He was married in 1945 to Miss Henrietta PADEN of Fresno, California. She died in 1922.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Matilda Burns BENNETT; a son and two daughters, Clifton BURNS, Willow Creek, Montana; Beatrice BURNS, a student as Wasatch Academy, Mount Pleasant, and Alice BURNS, Hermosa Park, California; and five brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lydia B. WILLIAMS, Willow Creek, Montana; Joseph BURNS, Marysvale; Archie A. BURNS, Butte, Montana; Reid BURNS, Manhattan Beach, California, and Mrs. Beatrice B. OLSON, Mount Pleasant.

The body will be brought to Mount Pleasant for burial, arriving here Saturday morning. Funeral Services will be conducted in the L.D.S. North Ward Chapel, under the direction of the Jacobs Mortuary.
