Robert E. Kimmel
ELDORADO, Ohio -- Robert E. Kimmel, age 89, formerly of Eldorado, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Vancrest Care Center in Eaton, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 17, 1915, near Eldorado (Monroe Township), Ohio, the son of Estey and May (Emrick) Kimmel.
Robert was a farmer and an avid fisherman and a lover of the Cincinnati Reds. In his earlier years, he was the manager of the Kimmel Elevator in West Manchester, Ohio; worked for Lavey Grain & Feed in Pitsburg, Ohio; and the manager of Hines Truck Stop.
He was a former member of the Eldorado Fire Department, the Eldorado Lions Club, the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge, both in Richmond, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond Kimmel; and his sister, Lura Stayton.
Survivors include two sons, Billie (Judy) Kimmel of New Madison, Ohio, and Ray (Carole) Kimmel of Eldorado, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Wesler, New Paris, Teresa Pipenger, New Paris, Scott Kimmel, New Madison, Tammy Miller, New Madison, Colleen Martin, Williamsburg, Ind., Robert Kimmel, New Paris, Ryan Kimmel, Richmond, Ind.; 11 great-grandchildren; several cousins.
The funeral service for Robert E. Kimmel will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, Ohio, with Mike Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery near Eldorado. Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at the funeral home.
Memorial envelopes will be available for the Parkinson's Association and the North Central Rescue Squad.
