MASON CITY - Gale A. Brierly, 87, of Nora Springs, died Monday (June 16, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Per his request, Gale will be cremated and no services are being planned.
Gale was born on July 13, 1920, the son of Garrett and Adda (Tibbetts) Brierly in Rudd, Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942.
In 1952, Gale married Betty Carpenter in New Hampton, Iowa.
Gale loved to go hunting, especially coon hunting. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, telling stories, talking with his friends, and going for rides.
Gale is survived by his wife, Betty, of Nora Springs; his children, Dennis (Pat) Brierly, of Crooks, S.D., Howard (Janice) Brierly, of Heber Springs, Ark., Barry Brierly, of Santa Rosa, Calif., Marilyn (Richard) Ritter, of Rockford, Iowa, Kathy Brierly, of Plymouth, Iowa, Susan (Larry) Mausehund, of Rudd, Iowa, Patty (Lanne) Book, of Klemme, Iowa, and Randy (Shannon) Brierly, of Marble Rock; his grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, "Fritz" Brierly; and his brothers and sisters.
