Sophia Crouch Minor, 75, a teacher in Arlington private and public schools from 1952 until she retired in 1973, died of a heart ailment June 8 at the Hospice of Northern Virginia in Arlington.
Mrs. Minor, who lived in Vienna, was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. She moved to Herndon as a child. She graduated in 1952 from George Washington University. She taught at the private Congressional School in Arlington until 1954, when she joined the Arlington public school system as a reading teacher. She was on the faculty of Wakefield High School when she retired and became a part-time substitute teacher.
Mrs. Minor was an honorary life member of the Woodford Citizens Association in Fairfax.
Her husband, Francis W. Minor, died in 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary C. Minor of Vienna, and Annette Minor Sorah of Telford, Tennessee; two sons, Ralph Evan of Alexandria, and Malcolm C. of Oxon Hill, Maryland; two brothers, Thomas Gordon Crouch of Arlington, and Warren B. Crouch of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Mary Dell Hashe of Gray, Tennessee, and Phoebe Gasich of Inglewood, California; 15 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
