Scott was the son of Ascher Scott Dansberry Sr. and Bertha May Coleman. He married Sarah E. Blackwell about Dec. 1940.

NEWTOWN, PA

Ascher Scott Dansberry Jr. died peacefully at the age of 97 on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Pickering Manor Home, Newtown, PA, where he resided for 3 1/2 years.

Born in Hopewell, NJ, to the late Ascher Scott and Bertha Coleman Dansberry, Scott was the beloved husband of the late Sarah (Sally) Blackwell Dansberry, to whom he was married for 70 years.

Scott graduated from Hopewell Township High School and worked in the personnel departments of Rockwell International in Hopewell and Transamerica/Delaval in Trenton.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hopewell, Amwell Lodge No. 12 F & AM, former member and clerk of Hopewell Borough School Board and exempt member of the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a life member of Mensa and, in his retirement, he enjoyed recaning vintage chairs.

Scott was predeceased by his brother, Reynold, and sister, Ellen. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Scott (Patricia) of Hopewell, NJ, Alan (Marva Joy) of Huddleston, VA, and Bettilyn Bogia (Thomas) of Newtown, PA. He also leaves a sister, Janet Bloor.

He was loving grandfather to Leanne Storer, Drew (Jonine) Dansberry, Susan (Jeff) Marquardt, Sandra (Sean) Dougal, Michael (Amanda) Dansberry, Colin (Melissa) Dansberry and Tucker (Kristine) Dansberry. In addition, he was the cherished great-grandfather of Benjamin, Nathanael, Aaron, Jesse, Riley, Katelyn, Rachael, Jacob, Aubrey, Julianna, Ascher, Jack, McKenna, Kinley and Zackary.

Scott had a love of music; over the years he sang at many weddings and was the baritone soloist for various community choral groups and church choirs. He was truly a friend to all whom he met and lived a life of kindness and graciousness.

The family would like to acknowledge the thoughtful care and consideration that Scott received during his stay at Pickering Manor Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3 E. Broad St., Hopewell , NJ 08525.
