George W. Hodgdon, 74, of Springvale died Tuesday morning at a nursing home at Fox Ridge Acton, where he had been a patient about three months. A native of Springvale, the son of Edwin R. and Lucy M. Day Hodgdon, he had operated blacksmith shop in that town for many years until retirement about six years ago. Surviving are tow daughters, Mrs. Alice Burroughs of Corbet, Vt., and Mrs. Gladys Linscott of Braintree, Mass., a brother, Irving L. Hodgdon of Bar mills; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Littlefield of Biddeford, Mrs. Ruth Huntington of Litchfield and Mrs. Eva Kerr of Rochester, N. H.; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Carll Funeral Home Main Street, with the Rev. Dean W. Geary of the Free Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
