Nicholas Bressler was a son of Georg Simon Bressler and Anna Barbara Unruh who were married in 1748 in Niederhochstadt, Palatinate [Germany].

His paternal grandparents were Johann Georg Bressler and Eva Magdalena Bach.

His maternal grandparents were Johann Philipp Unruh and his wife Anna Barbara.

He served in the Berks County Militia in 1776 and 1780.

He married Catharine Elizabeth Boyer in 1779.

John Nicholas Bressler and Catharine Elizabeth Boyer were the parents of the following children.

1. Elizabeth Bressler, b. 1780 (m. John George Spangler).
2. John Nicholas Bressler, b. 4 January 1784 (m. Catharine Kuntz).
3. Anna Maria Bressler, b. about 1789 (m. George Dornmeyer).
4. John Michael Bressler, b. 1 April 1797 (m. Mary Ann Spangler).
5. John William Bressler, b. 17 March 1800 (m. Barbara ______).
6. John Daniel Bressler, b. 2 October 1803 (m. Emma Margaret Ganoe and Mary Ann Tannyhill).
7. John George Bressler, b. 9 February 1805 (m. Elizabeth Geezy).

In addition to the above children, census data suggest the presence of another son born about 1786 and another daughter born about 1793.

NOTE: This Nicholas Bressler has been confused with Nicholas Bressler (1759 — 1826), who was instead the son of Johann Georg Bressler and Anna Eva Dollinger. This latter Nicholas Bressler married Elizabeth ______, not Catharine Elizabeth Boyer.
