To some he was known of "Gate". he was a man of many talents. Whatever Gate said he could do, he would pursue it and do just that. He has a special way of making people laugh about things in life and how you just had to look at life in a different and special way. He would always give thanks to God as well as encourage others while traveling on life's highway. Gate accepted Christ and was saved at New Hope Baptist Church at a very young age. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Mae Evans in 1948.
Frank loved the Lord and enjoyed talking about the miracles God performed in his life and how God brought him through. He truly wanted his life to be a testimony to everyone he came in contact with about God's grace and mercy.
Gospel music became Gate's drive and dream. Fueled by the Spirit of God, he started a quartet group called the Spiritual Harmonizers. Singing was his ministry. This was his most favorite ministry. It was his way of teaching and transforming lives.
Frank retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was preceeded in death by his mother, Frances Turner; father, Frank Turner; sisters, Ruth, Ruby and Mary and his brothers, Bill and Roy.
He leaves to mourn a loving, caring and devoted wife, Mrs. Charlie Mae Turner, seven children Eugenia (Jimmie), Hazel; Betty Ann (Horace); LaVerne (William); Colleen (Filmore); Lloyd (Sharon) and Frances. Three siblings: Sylvia Copeland; Hattie Copeland and Lucille Davis. Two brother-in-laws: Timothy Dixon and James Askew. Ten grandchildren, 16 great grand and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Homegoing Celebration was held on Saturday February 07, 2015 in the Sanctuary of New Hope Baptist Church with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Harden officiated with arrangements by Richardson Funeral Home.
