The daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Gibson Owens, she was born Oct. 31, 1872. She married Belty Butt Jan. 13, 1895 and three children blessed this union. Mr. Butt preceded her in death in 1950.
She was a life long resident of this county. Mrs. Butt was a member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Science Hill conducted by the Rev. Ralph Wesley and the Rev. Bruce Janes. Burial was in the Science Hill cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Massey of Somerset, Mrs. Clarence Scott of Salisbury, N.C.; one son, Clark Butt of Eubank; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Harlin Perkins of Somerset.
