Mary Louise Williams Simons wrote this about her mother:
My mother was a very beautiful lady that I was never to know. One can truly really know the real meaning of the word "mother", after having to grow up in the real world without the benefits of one.

Ruby Iona, known as Johnnie, (to date I know not the story of how the name was pinned to her), passed away the 29th day of May 1938. I was not quite three years of age. I do not remember her at all.

Pat Williams loved this fine lady very much, and was to grieve several years for her. It seemed to pain him to speak of her, and so he didn't very often. The memories tucked away in his mind, stayed safely there. He shared them with no one soul.

In time I have gathered pictures, and have therefore painted thoughts in my mind, but no vivid memory from my mind. Simply none.

Her grave-site was never marked by Pat. I believe the hurt was indeed so deep, he never really accepted her death as fact. To not talk of it meant it never really happened. To not mark the grave, meant it was not really there.

There are plans in the making to get this chore accomplished. Dolores and I will get this done in time.

There has been many sweet stories handed down in the Pogue family about our mother. We deeply appreciate each and every one heard.

w/o Pat Williams
