There is a discrepancy in the birthdate for John. His WWI draft registration card states his date of birth as September 8, 1882 and he gives his birthplace as Austria.
John's funeral remembrance card states he was born June 25, 1882 in what was at that time "Jugoslavia".
John had brothers Nichola, Peter, Louis and Joseph who were all together in Gilroy, Santa Clara County, California.
On Louis's naturalization petition, he states he was born in Mricene, Dalmatia, Austria; but he agrees to renounce the "Kingdom of Serbs, Croates and Slovenes" of whom he was a subject at that time. This was in 1909.
The brothers owned a hotel(The Louis Hotel) and were in business as "Cupich & Company"; each had their own individual jobs ~ John was the cook.
John's WWII registration card of 1942 clears some things up, stating that he was born in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, but lists his birthdate as August 25, 1882. So now we have 3 different dates.
On the card it also lists he is now unemployed, living at the Louis Hotel in Gilroy.
