Phillip A. Dewese, 83, of Grand Rapids passed away Monday February 2, 2015. Phillip was born on May 27, 1931 in Weston, Ohio to the late Orlo and Louise (Ducat) Dewese. Phillip married Alice Stahl in 1956 and they later divorced. He is survived by his children: Robert (Michele) Dewese, of Grand Rapids, Jeff (Roxann) Dewese of McClure, Scott Dewese of Grand Rapids and Cyndi (Mike) Patterson of North Baltimore; grandchildren: Michael(Deserae) Patterson, Dustin (Angie) Patterson, Shawn (Erin) Shaffer, Matt Shaffer (Teremy Martin), Amanda Dewese, Tom Kelly; great-grandchildren: Erica, Ella, Zeke, Trinity and William Patterson, Tyler, Tanner ,and Trever Shaffer, Abbey Shaffer and Tyler Lee, Gabe Kelly; sister: Glenna Jeanne Philo of Custar and a special friend Nancy Loomis. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert and Maurice Dewese and a sister Phyllis Hummel and a great-grandchild: Mackenzie Shaffer. Phillip was a lifelong farmer in Wood County, partnering with his brother Maury and nephew Bruce. He was a member of the Bowling Green Elks Club #818. Phillip proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Phillip was a strong supporter of the United States Constitution and especially the 2nd Amendment. He was an avid sportsman, hunter and NRA Endowment member. Phillip was also a member of the Maumee Valley Sportmen Club in Malinta. Phillip enjoyed trap shooting, square dancing, watching John Wayne movies and country music. Phillip was a generous and kind hearted man who would help anyone in a time of need. Visitation will be on Wednesday February 4, 2015 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the LOOMIS-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 20375 E. Taylor St., Weston, Ohio 43569; Tele: 419/669-0504, where his funeral services will be held on Thursday February 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Rick Broughton, officiating . Interment will follow in Weston Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorial Contributions may be gifted in Phillips honor to the National Rifle Association, Disabled American Veterans or Wood Lucas Pheasants Forever Chapter.
