Theodore along with his brother Joseph, arrived in Cooke County, Texas in November of 1889. After viewing the location, they liked what they saw. They were the first pioneers to arrive in this new community to be formed. Shortly thereafter, their brother Bernard from St. Louis joined Theodore and Joseph and opened a lumber yard in Muenster.

After Theodore acquired his property east of Muenster, in December 1889, he built a small wood frame house, which would later become the kitchen to a much larger house that would be added. He and his brother Joseph lived there until their sister Anna Marie immigrated to the US in July, 1890. Anna Marie kept house for her two brothers for a brief time until she married August Grube in 1891.

On Sept. 9, 1891, Theodore married Anna Emilie Flusche, the daughter of Joseph Flusche. Theodore's sister Anna Marie and August B. Grube were also married that day in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muenster, Texas in a double wedding. To this union between Theodore and Anna, twelve children were born with 4 of the daughters becoming nuns.

Theodore had applied for US Citizenship in Shelby County, Iowa in July, 1889 while he was there briefly. On April 23, 1904, Theodore received his Naturalized Citizenship papers at the Cooke County Court House in Gainesville, Texas, and became a US citizen.
