James R. French was born in Fayette county (sic), Pennsylvania, January 20th, 1856. Moved with his parents to Nuckolls county (sic) in 1879 where he lived until recently, when he removed to Bellville, [sic] Kansas to take the pastorate of the Christian church in that place, in which work he was engaged until the time of his death.
