Sarah Adaline Duke Walton, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at her son, Gary's, home in Jameston, Idaho.

She was born July 18, 1921, at the family ranch, east of Bennington, Idaho, to her parents, John Turner Duke and Olive L. Burbank Duke. She grew up on the ranch with her sisters, Ila and LaVon, and her brothers, Dan, Harry and Lawrence. Her father passed away when she was 4. Her schooling was at the Bennington School House, where she studied through the 8th grade.

On May 16, 1940, she married her sweetheart, Wendell S. Walton, in Bennington. He was from Star Valley, Wyo. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in November 1960. Sarah and Wendell lived in Thayne, Wyo., where their first son, Bruce, was born. They later lived in Idaho Falls, Soda Springs and Montpelier, Idaho, for approximately 16 years. Gary and Paul were born there. In 1960, she and Wendell moved to Ammon. She worked as a clerk at JCPenney for 10 years. Wendell passed away in 1985.

Sarah lived in Ammon until 2013 when she moved to her son, Paul's, home in Murray, Utah. In 2014, Sarah moved to Gary's home in Jameston. Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother, wife and grandmother.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings and was a temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She had many friends and enjoyed baking her "famous" cinnamon rolls, rolls and pies for many church and community functions. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting and making Afghans. She was also known as the sister that made and gave laundry bags to many missionaries in the Ammon area.

Survivors are sons, Gary L. (Marsha) Walton of Shelley and Paul J. (Diane) Walton of Murray, Utah; sister, Ila George of Chubbuck; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Wendell Bruce Walton; three brothers, Dan, Harry and Lawrence Hunter; and a sister, LaVon Scholes.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, at Ammon LDS 4th Ward, 4375 E. Sunnyside Road, with Bishop Eric Bodily officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the services at the church.
