Betsy FERGUSSON was born in Stark County, Ohio, on 20 Oct 1812, to Aaron FERGUSSON (17 May 1778 Mason Co, KY--25 Sep 1847 Hurricane, Bond Co, IL) and Keziah PRICE (26 May 1786 Maryland--12 Sep 1820 Ohio) who was the daughter of Veazey PRICE and Simantha Ann BARTON. Betsy was the the sixth of their 11 children (Price; William Perry, Sr; Elijah; Thomas; Ann; Elizabeth "Betsy"; Rachel; John; Eleanor; Mary; and Aaron.)

Elizabeth "Betsy" FERGUSSON married William HIDDLESON (b 25 Apr 25, 1800 in Lycoming, Lynn Co, Pennsylvania--d 6 Mar 1895 in Little Rock Township, Kendall Co, Illinois)on 20 Nov 1828 in Datyon, Montgomery Co, Ohio. They moved to what would be Kendall County, Illinois, in 1836--early settlers in the area.
He must have been personable...he was well-known as "Uncle Billy" there. [Heddleson is another spelling that one sees with some frequency.] Uncle Billy died on 6 Mar 1895 and Betsy died 25 Aug 1851. He married again on 2 Feb 1856 in Kendall County, to Hannah B WYKES-SARGENT, the widow of John SARGENT. Elizabeth had 12 Hiddleson children: Charles Miller; Mary Ellenor; Margreth Ann; Sarah J.; Ann Elizabeth; James M.; John J.; (William) Calvin "Cal"; George H.; (Hiram) Erastus; Romilius [many spellings] Alvero M. "Mel"; Robert O.
All lived to adulthood except (perhaps) Margreth who was last cited by me at age 6; and John who died at age 2.

John SARGEANT and Hannah WYKES had four children: John; Mary; Thomas; and Henry. All four were living with William HIDDLESON and his second wife Hannah WYKES-SARGEANT on the 1860 census. All indications are that William added them as family members from his second marriage onward.

The Hiddlesons eventually moved to the area of Cabery, Kankakee Co., Illinois.

I am not closely related to the Hiddleson-Ferguson family although two of my great-uncles married Hiddleson sisters (daughters of Mel) in 1898 and 1905.) I do consider them "family". I have more information on many (but not all) of them which I would be willing to share.) Kristy
