Muncie – Paul David “Bud” New, 83, passed away Monday morning, January 26, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on December 26, 1931 in Mittonville, KY the son of George and Elsie (Moore) New. Served in the US Army from 1951 until 1954, serving two tours on the front lines with the US Army 31st Infantry Regiment of the 7th Division in Korea during the Korean War. Bud moved to Muncie in the 1960’s.

Mr. New was employed at Marhoeffer’s for eighteen years, Duffy Tool & Die, and had previously been a farmer in Kentucky.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church for forty-three years and the DAV. Bud was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary; a daughter, Geretha Lytle, Muncie; his son, James New, Redkey; a sister, Faye Taylor (husband, Edward), Science Hill, KY; six grandchildren, Dewayne Davis, Eubank, KY, Sabrina Coulter, Somerset, KY, Jennifer Davis, North Carolina, Jarrod Hummer, Muncie, Doreen O’Connell, Muncie, and William New, Dover, DE; thirteen dearly loved great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a dearly beloved daughter, Paula Davis who died in an automobile accident in 2008; five brothers, Delmer, Elmer, James Silas, Valando “Curly”, and Noble New; and three sisters, Ida Dick, Lola Spears, and Marie Yaden.
