De Lorise Aldy Jones passed away at Capital Manor (June 22, 2014), she had a wonderful life, was a faithful servant and went to be with her Lord full of joy and gladness.
De Lorise was born to Nollie Mae Kelley Aldy and Hampton Eugene Aldy, May 20 on Shanker Lake Plantation, Quitman County (near Crowder), Mississippi. She was one of ten siblings: Pauline; Chester; Euree; Charles; Oran; Billy; Lilly; Roy; and Stanley. She had fond memories of growing up on the small cotton plantation with her family in the Mississippi delta.
During the war years the plantation was sold and the family moved to Louisiana. Three were married and stayed in Mississippi. Three of the brothers joined the Army and the rest of the family lived on a cattle ranch their dad purchased near Jonesboro. De Lorise graduated from Winfield High School and attended Huey P. Long Memorial School, majoring in business education.
De Lorise returned to Marks, Mississippi where she worked for her brother-in-law, Clint Turner, who was elected Sheriff of Quitman County. It was while she was working here that she met her future husband, Cecil Wayne Jones. They were later married and had two wonderful sons: Col. Cecil Wayne Jones, Jr., USAF, Ret.(Helen) and the Rev. Forrest Kelley Jones (Kathy); five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Cecil Sr. worked in the natural gas industry and his job took the family to live in several cities in the Northwest.
They lived in Yakima, WA for twelve years and it was while there that De Lorise was elected President of the Conservative Baptist Women of Washington. They later moved to Eugene, OR and she served as President of the Conservative Baptist Women of OR and their sons graduated from North Eugene High and Oregon State U. and Corban U. respectively. They also lived in Kirkland, WA and Boise, ID. They later moved to Salt Lake City, UT where De Lorise served as President of the Conservative Baptist Women of Utah. De Lorise was a bible teacher and served a number of years as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship.
It was after Cecil Sr. passed away that De Lorise moved to the Capital Manor Retirement Community where she lived her remaining years. She was active in many areas of life here. She lead table grace, taught a bible class, volunteered in the thrift store, worked on the flower committee, was editor of the in-house Manor Graph newspaper, and was a member of CaMROS, a reader's theatre. She enjoyed life at Capital Manor and was fortunate to make many friends while here.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Capital Manor Auditorium, 1955 Dallas Highway NW.
Her desire for the future is to greet all of her friends and loved ones in heaven.
