Obituary from The Gainesville Daily Register June 12, 1953 - "Oscar J. McGill - Marietta, Okla., June 12 - Funeral services will be held in Thackerville Saturday at 2:30 p. m., for Oscar James McGill, 75, who died Wednesday at his home near Thackerville. Henry Matthews, Church of Christ minister of Elmore City, will officiate, with burial in Lakeview cemetery here directed by Goodrich Funeral home. Bearers will be Ed McGehee, Vernon Bond, Pete Jordan, Seymour Flannigan, Leonard Wood and Leo Scott. Mr. McGill is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Jones of Thackerville, and Mrs. Daisy Campbell, Modesto, Calif.,; three sons, William J., Modesto, Calif., Clyde E., Thackerville, and Paul H., Long Beach, Calif.: two sisters, Mrs. Albert Eady and Mrs. Alice Hignight, Deport, Texas; three brothers, Joe and Pat of Deport, and William of Port Arthur, Texas, and 42 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. McGill was born June 10, 1878, in Lamar County, Texas and was married to Miss Josephine Rhodes at Deport, February 17,1901. The family moved to the Bomar community of Love county in 1903, and he purchased a farm in the Addington Bend community in 1912, having lived there since.He had been a member of the Church of Christ 43 years and the Addington Bend election board 33 years."
