Bernadine Maxine Favinger passed from this life in South Padre Island, Texas on January 26, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born on October 5, 1926 in the Minden, Nebraska home of her parents, Ray and Daisy (Hanson) Christensen. She gre up in the Osco community in Southeast Kearney County, Nebraska, attending Grammer School (now located in Pioneer Village) and Osco Baptist Church. The family moved back into Minden when Bernie entered 9th grade at Minden High School. She played clarinet in the band, sang alto in vocal choir, and was an honor student, graduating in 1943. Bernie worked for the county Ration Office and the ASC office in Minden. She moved to Oregon, living with her sister Geraldine Green and family. She met Donivan Favinger when they both entered 9th grade and began dating in their junior year. They were married on September 29 1946 in the First Christian Church in Minden and made their home in Minden. To this union, 4 children were born, Patty, Linda, Kendall and Sandra. She devoted her life to her family and was Don's constant companion and best friend. Bernie loved to sew and made most of the children's clothing. A member of Minden First Christian Church, active in the church choir, taught Sunday School to toddlers, helped in the church kitchen for church functions and was a regualr member of the Christian Womans Fellowship. Bernie and Don loved to travel and she collected plates from every state they visited. Their favorite place to visit was Port Isabel, Texas and made it their winter home for 30 years. Diagnoised with Sarcoidosis of the lungs in 1983, it had become difficult for Bernie to breath, climb stairs and even walk.

Bernie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Children - Patty and Marshall Damgaard of Minden, Linda and Rick Waldron of Hastings, Kendall and Kim Favinger of Kearney and Sandra and Alan Peshek of Kenesaw, 11 Grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, 3 sister-in- laws and 1 brother-in-law, i niece and 1 nephew..

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister and Brother-in-law Ted Green.
