Herbert was known by his close friends and family as “Chick”. A proud veteran, Chick served in the United States Army during World War II, where he received an Eameto Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal and World War II Victory Medal. His passion was working with the VFW. He was an insurance salesman for many years and loved the outdoors but most of all he was a devoted husband, loving father, uncle, and friend.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife of 63 years, Rena B. Dupre of Eunice; his son, Glenn D. Dupre of Lafayette; his three brothers, Eraste “Crip” Dupre, Jr and Levoy Dupre both of Eunice, Dale Dupre and wife, Jalyne of Lafayette and a sister, Lucille McGee of Lafayette as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eraste and Beatrice Darbonne Dupre; two brothers, Abbey and Hubert Dupre.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, January 26th from 12 noon until 9:00 pm and again on Tuesday, January 27th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Monday evening.
