Duane F. Stock, Sr., 91, of Lone Tree, passed away peacefully at Windmill Manor in Coralville on Saturday, January 24, 2015, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the Lone Tree American Legion. Lyle Beaver will officiate. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of Duane. Sympathy notes may be left for the Stock family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Duane Fred Stock was born on February 2, 1923, in Lone Tree, the son of Fred and Leona (Timmerman) Stock. He was a 1941 graduate of Lone Tree High School. Duane was united in marriage to Arlyne Chance on Sept.13, 1947, in Rock Island, Illinois and later divorced. He was a lifelong rural Johnson County farmer on the family, Homestead Stock Farm. Duane was a Prairie Masters 4H Leader, raised registered Horned Hereford cattle and was a member of the Horned Hereford Association. Duane enjoyed farming, dancing, playing euchre and pretty women.

Duane will be deeply missed by his children, Sue Ellyn Anthony and husband, Tom of Coralville and Duane Stock, Jr. and wife, Deb of Lone Tree; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Haugh, Melissa (Shawn) Swartzendruber, Dana Stock, Adam Stock, Heather Glick, Hannah Glick, and Jordan Stock; five great-grandchildren, Kaia Haugh, Megan, Cole, Tyler, and Jaxon Swartzendruber; niece, Adele Stock and sister-in-law, Adeline Stock of Iowa City.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary, one brother, Leland, niece, Sherrie Klemp and dear friend, Barbara Sternad.
