Charlotte Mitchell Spjut 1910 - 1998
Born Charlotte Lucille Tout in Deary, Idaho on December 25, 1910 to Edward Tout and Estella Mattingly. Charlotte grew up in Idaho. She met and married Howard W. Mitchell on July 5, 1930 in Kendrick, Idaho. They moved to Tacoma where their son Douglas was born. They returned to Idaho where their son Wayne, and daughter Jan were born. In 1937 they returned to Tacoma. In 1939 they moved to the old town of Alder and in 1945 relocated in the current location in Alder. Charlotte was a home maker and worked as a cook. Her hobbies were gardening and oil painting. After Howard's death she met and married Roy Spjut, they remained on the place in Alder until September 1997 when they moved to a retirement home in Puyallup. After Roy's passing Charlotte moved to a nursing home in Marysville until July first when she went to join Howard and Roy. Besides the loss of two husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister, and granddaughter, Susin Mitchell Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Mitchell Luze of Lakewood; son's, Wayne (Kathy) Mitchell of Marysville, Douglas (Jacqueline Zimmer) Mitchell of Vista, CA; step-daughter, Lisa (Steven) Parks of Seattle; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday, July 10, 1998 at Fir Lane Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Fir Lane Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
