"One of the most heart rending tragedies that has ever happened in Milam county occurred Monday afternoon in the Pleasant Hill community, southwest of Rockdale, when Neoma, the little four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Sanders, was burned to death.........

The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Dewey of the Christian church, and the remains laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gunn, of this city, attended the funeral, Mrs. Gunn being a sister of the little victim.

Both Mr. Sanders and his wife received serious burns in their efforts to extinguish the flames, those of the mother being possible the worst. Mr. Sanders has only one arm and was therefore handicapped in his fight with the flames, and his remaining hand is badly burned."
