Hannah Ashcraft Smith was born Feb 1796 Fayette County, Pennsylvania to Daniel Ashcraft and Catherine (maiden name not yet known). Hannah was fifth child of Daniel. In 1808 Daniel moved with part of his family to Ohio.

Hannah and Archibald Smith were married 4 Feb 1813 in Muskingum County, Ohio. This was parent county of Coshocton County where they are enumerated on Census in 1830 and where oldest children were born. By 1837 they had moved to Indiana where one child was born and then to Livingston County, Missouri. Livingston County was split to add Grundy County in Jan 1841. Youngest daughter was born in Feb 1841 in Missouri. Family enumerated in Livingston County in 1840 and Mercer County (formed from Grundy 1845)in 1850.

Hannah and Archibald Smith were parents to nine children.
