Philberta Edith Bland, 83, of Riverton, West Virginia passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Brandywine, West Virginia.

She was born June 9, 1931 at Onego, WV, on Smith Mountain and was the daughter of the late Philbert R. Bodkin (1891 – 1965) and Mary Rebecca Payne Bodkin (1895 – 1954).

A 1950 graduate of Circleville High School, she had worked at the 4-U, Harper's Old Country Store and Seneca Rocks Visitors Center.

She was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Riverton.

On October 30, 1952, she married Ralph Wayne "Teddy" Bland, who preceded her in death on March 11, 1993.

Surviving are – One daughter – Pamela Louise Botkin & her husband, William Andrew "Andy" of Monterey, VA.

Two sons – Carroll Wayne Bland and his wife, Vickie of Bridgewater, VA., Wade Seymour Bland of Riverton, WV.

One granddaughter – Candida "Candi" Carpenter and her husband, John "Tommy".

Six grandsons –

Matthew Bland and his wife, Amanda
Austin James Bland
Bradley Jacob Bland
Allen Michael Bland
Logan Scott Bland

One great-granddaughter - Camryn "Cami" Carpenter.

And a daughter-in-law - Deborah Bland of Circleville, WV.

In addition to her parents and husband, Philberta was preceded in death by – One son – Daniel Gene Bland (1967 – 2008)

An infant daughter – Sherry Lou Bland (1953)

Two sisters – Naomi "Irene" (Calvin) Mallow (1929-2014),
Mary Mae "Tops" (Ralph) Mallow (1936 – 2005

And two half-brothers – Harold "Golden" Bodkin (1917 - ?),
Richard Lee Bodkin (1918 – 1952)

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM (the service hour) on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 24 in the chapel of the Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin with Rev. Robert Baer and Pastor James Sims officiating.

Interment will be at North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton, West Virginia.
